President’s Message
April 1, 2024

Dear Ballroom Dance Friends—

Thanks so much to all 161 members and guests who braved the weather and joined us at our March dance. It was really a fun evening. Mark Van Sickle and the DFW Musicmakers did a fabulous job of playing great music. Reese and Gail jumped in at the last minute and taught some very nice Mambo steps. Despite the dreary weather outside, it was bright with plenty of sunshine inside.

This year we have three new board members whom I hope you will have an opportunity to meet. Minnette Kless serves as Vice-president; Walt Hannon has stepped in as our Membership Chair, and Francisco Gonzalez serves as Secretary. This month I would like to share some additional information about our VP—Minnette Kless.

Minnette brings a tremendous background to our board because she has been a dancer since childhood. During that time, she has enjoyed ballet, tap, jazz, Contra, and now ballroom. In fact, Minnette met her husband, Harold, because of dancing. They have taken lessons for over ten years from Margaret Kochan and have participated in several showcase performances. Her goal is to see that BDD continues to thrive and grow. Thanks so much, Minnette, for giving of your time to serve our club.

On April 20, we will have an opportunity to enjoy another great Saturday evening. The Classic Swing Band will be playing fabulous dance music, and our lesson on Foxtrot will be taught by Margaret Kochan from A Dance to Remember. That’s a great combination that’s hard to beat.

So, don’t miss out. Debasish Mridha said, “Let us dance as if life is a dance of our soul and spirit. Life is the most beautiful dance on the most beautiful stage we call Earth.” And, don’t get caught in the dark on April 8.

Until then—happy dancing.

Linda
