Newsletter — March 2026
Hello Ballroom Dancers,
Our February dance was a lot of fun! We started the evening with a lesson by Ben De La Vega teaching us some cool moves in American Tango. Along with some new dance moves, we danced to The Kelley Fletcher Band who always play such wonderful music. We appreciate their talents and willingness to share them with us at BDD.
For the March dance, we will focus on the popular and fun dance: Salsa, taught by multi-talented Natalja Sawal. Our band will be Just Jazz, a Dallas/Fort Worth area 7-piece classic jazz combo under the direction of Bob Putnam. Our Theme will be It’s Carnival Y’all, Ball. Come ready to show off your best Carnival wear. Colorful hats, masks, feathers, anything that you feel will fit our theme. Let’s have a lot of fun with it. Bring a friend and let’s share our love for dancing.
Do you practice safe dance etiquette?
Practicing proper dance floor etiquette is essential to make sure all dancers on the floor experience a safe and enjoyable time while dancing. It is important that dancers wear shoes that allow the dancer to navigate easily on the floor. Avoid shoes with grip, which impede gliding. Be sure buckles are secure and shoelaces are tied. Avoid extra-long skirts, which may cause tripping. Sokol Hall provides a beautiful floor, and it is important that dancers know the “rules of the road,” so to speak. Please look at the following diagram that shows important basics of the flow of the dance floor, where to dance different styles. It’s all for the safety of every dancer.
See you on the dance floor,
Minnette Kless
